Spring has definitely arrived! Bluebonnets are lining the highways and spring showers are watering the ground. AAIM’s annual Hope Awards Celebration and Fundraiser is less than a month away. This year, we are thrilled to honor Pat Flood, AAIM's first executive director, Butler, former director of the Community Action Network, and Amy Wong Mok, of the Asian American Cultural Center. We invite you to join us in the celebration and in support of AAIM’s programs and vital presence in the community. Please read below for details about this event and for an exciting slate of learning opportunities throughout the city.

Louis G. Gregory Symposium on Racial Unity in America
 
in partnership with Huston-Tillotson University and the Baha'i Community of Austin

This day long conference honors the legacy of Louis G. Gregory, an African-American Baha'i lawyer who dedicated his life to racial unity. Workshops, presentations and interactive events will be held throughout the day.


Yom HaShoa: Holocaust Remembrance Day
 
in partnership with the Community Relations Council of the Jewish Community Association of Austin and St. Martin's Lutheran Church

9:30-2:30: Reading of names of Holocaust victims at the Texas State Capitol Open Air Rotunda.

3:00-4:30: Interfaith commemoration service, St. Martin's Lutheran Church, (606 West 15th Street)


Volunteer for Hands on Housing
 
Bluebonnet Blitz: April 21-22

Faith-based organizations and community groups have been participating in AAIM's Hands on Housing program since 1988. Over 1,000 houses have received much needed repairs, allowing elderly home owners to live with independence and self respect.

Action Alert: Sign on to Austin's Ethical Procurement Policy Ordinance
 

The Religion and Labor Network of Austin asks you and your organization to support Austin's "Sweat Free" ordinance which will require the City of Austin to purchase garments for city employees from contractors that do not engage in sweatshop abuses.
