Dr. Patricia Hayes - Emcee

Dr. Patricia Hayes Dr. Patricia Hayes is the former Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Seton Healthcare Network that oversees eight Central Texas hospitals, three clinics for the working poor and the school nursing program for AISD.  Prior to moving to Seton, Dr. Hayes was the first female and second lay person to lead St. Edward's University where she led the institution for over 14 years.  Through voluntary service, Hayes has shared her knowledge and experience with many other worthy organizations.  She was a founder of Envision Central Texas (ECT) and currently is a member of the boards of the Topfer Family Foundation, the Philosophical Society of Texas, and the Texas Association of Public and Private Hospitals.  The Chamber of Commerce named her Austinite of the Year for 1990, and she was named Most Worthy Citizen of 1995 by the Austin Board of Realtors.

Throughout his twenty-five year career at KLRU-TV, Austin's Public Television station, we have welcomed Tom Spencer into our homes recognizing his commitment to civil discourse and strengthening the bonds of our community. We have also learned to “grow” with him as he shared his love of gardening on KLRU's Central Texas Gardener and on his weekly radio program for KLBJ-AM.  Tom is also the creator of an award winning website, www.soulofthegarden.com that explores gardening as a spiritual practice and offers “reflections on life from an Austin garden” to visitors from around the globe.

Sara Hickman - Live Performance

Sara HickmanRecording Artist Sara Hickman is a native Texan that embodies living life.  At age 7, Sara paired with her best friend the guitar and has been making music ever since.  Her latest release, Motherlode, explores all the facets of motherhood.  Prior to that Sara released a series of 5 children CD's, for which she received many national awards.   In addition, Sara has received countless awards both locally, statewide and nationally, including The Dallas Observer Awards, The National Association of Music Therapists, Austin Under Forty, The Kerrville Festival, Speaking of Women's Health Initiative and the Austin Music Awards.  Sara has been a guest on NBC's Tonight Show, hosted her own VH1 special and produced an independent video, Joy, which won first place in the USA Film Festival.  Visit her online at www.sarahickman.com.
