Dear Friends,
June 20 is UN World Refugee Day,
drawing attention not only to the
struggles of refugees, but their triumph,
determination and contributions to host
communities. This year's theme, A New
Home, A New Life, highlights this
resilience to create a new beginning.
AAIM invites you to honor and
celebrate refugees with the Austin World
Refugee Day festival on June 23,
brought to you in partnership with over 10
refugee providers in Austin.
AAIM is the official ESL (English as
a Second Language) provider for refugees in
Austin, offering classes five days a week in
emerging literacy, beginner, intermediate
and advanced levels. Over 100 students are
served each year for a total of 2,000 hours of
instruction. Refugees are given the vital
cultural
and linguistic skills to build a successful
new life in the US.
We hope you can join us for this important day.
Yours in faith,
Rev. Emilee Whitehurst, M. Div
