Dear AAIM,
Happy New Year to one and all! This year, AAIM will
be officially turning over a new leaf! Based on input
from AAIM delegates, ally organizations and the
community at large, the AAIM Board and staff have
identified four strategic directions which will guide
our work in 2007 and beyond:
1. Build authentic relationships across racial,
religious, economic and cultural lines.
2. Positively impact community well-being and the
quality of life in the Austin Area.
3. Share the AAIM story to promote interfaith
partnership and respect.
4. Ensure organizational sustainability and efficacy.
Please join us at our Annual Meeting on January
30th, 2007 at Huston-Tillotson University,Seabrook
Chapel to learn about our action plans for the
upcoming year and how you can
participate.
We are
honored to have as our keynote speaker, Dr.
Greg Vincent, Vice
President for Diversity and Community Engagement of
the University of Texas.
In
addition, we are thrilled to host Diane
Wolkstein, "New York’s Official Storyteller", who
will recount for us the Biblical story of Ruth, a woman
whose spiritual journey can provide an inspiration to
us all. For those who enjoy the art of storytelling,
AAIM will host a special workshop with Diane on
January 29th. Space is limited, so reserve a
place
right away.
2007 promises to be a momentous year and
we encourage your participation in AAIM's offering of
programs and activities.
In faith,
Rev. Emilee Dawn Whitehurst,
Executive Director

AUSTIN AREA INTERRELIGIOUS MINISTRIES UNITES
FAITH AND CULTURAL COMMUNITIES TO FOSTER
RESPECT, PARTNERSHIP AND TRANSFORMATION IN
SERVICE OF THE COMMON GOOD.
This e-mail is a service of Austin Area Interreligious
Ministries (AAIM). Our goal is to alert Austin's faith
communities as well as the "spiritually curious" about
events that may be of interest. Please note that
AAIM does not presume to endorse the events we
publicize nor do we necessarily share their faith
perspective. We do, however, find these events to
be worthwhile contributions to the diverse religious
and cultural fabric of our city.
