Dear AAIM,
Join AAIM on Monday, January 15th as we walk in
honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. You can
meet
AAIM
supporters at the MLK statue on the University of
Texas campus at 9
am. Just look for the AAIM banner! Let us walk in
unity.
AAIM starts the year with two wonderful
events.
Register now for a space in the
Storytelling Workshop with Diane Wolkstein.
Diane has conducted workshops around the world
drawing from the religious and cultural traditions of
Jewish folklore, Haitian children's tales and Hans
Christian Anderson. This unique opportunity promises
to inspire
and delight.
We are proud to welcome Dr. Greg
Vincent, VP for Diversity and Community
Engagement
at UT to the 66th Annual AAIM Community
Meeting on January 30.
We will share the organization's accomplishments in
2006 and define our goals and visions for the coming
years.
As we start 2007, I pause to reflect on Rev.
Jim Forbes' sermon from AAIM's 2006 Annual
Meeting: "Let's tear down the walls of religion and
build up the levees of relationships."
Take a look at the rich offering of spiritual
activities in the community and challenge yourself to
learn something about your neighbor's faith and
worldview. Beyond the walls of isolation you can find
the power of human connections.
Yours in faith,
Rev. Emilee Whitehurst

AUSTIN AREA INTERRELIGIOUS MINISTRIES UNITES
FAITH AND CULTURAL COMMUNITIES TO FOSTER
RESPECT, PARTNERSHIP AND TRANSFORMATION IN
SERVICE OF THE COMMON GOOD.
This e-mail is a service of Austin Area Interreligious
Ministries (AAIM). Our goal is to alert Austin's faith
communities as well as the "spiritually curious" about
events that may be of interest. Please note that
AAIM does not presume to endorse the events we
publicize nor do we necessarily share their faith
perspective. We do, however, find these events to
be worthwhile contributions to the diverse religious
and cultural fabric of our city.
