How does the journey of interfaith dialogue begin? The answer, we believe, is through a single conversation -- by truly listening to those who share the journey with us.

This November the Austin Community will have the unique opportunity to sharing a beautiful interfaith experience through a new program called the Amazing Faiths Dinner Dialogues. These free dinner events are being brought to you through a partnership of Austin Area Interreligious Ministries, the Institute for Interfaith Dialogue, St. James Episcopal Church, and The Seton Cove.

On Thursday, November 12, individuals of diverse faiths will be gathering in homes throughout the Austin Area and the nation to break bread and share their individual faith stories in a profoundly respectful and peaceful way. We invite you to join these dinner events either through hosting a dinner, moderating a discussion, or simply participating in one of the dinner dialogues.

Inspired by the book, The Amazing Faith of Texas, The Amazing Faiths Dinner Dialogues are a national effort created right here in Texas by Interfaith Ministries of Greater Houston. On November 12, 2009, hundreds of dinner conversations happening at the same time in homes from coast to coast. It is truly a "first step" of historic proportions.

Hosts will be asked to prepare a simple, vegetarian meal for between 8-10 people.  Moderators will be trained via a simple telephone conversation that last no more than one hour, and participants will be matched to homes that are close to their own residences.  Every effort will be made to ensure that true religious diversity will be
present at every home.

(Note: If you would like to participate as a Moderator, please contact us directly at 512-386-9145.)

Please join us for a beautiful evening of shared stories and deep listening on Thursday, November 12, 2009.
